Maritime Leisure was founded in 1989, when the first training center for hotel employees in the cruise industry was opened at the Klessheim Tourism School in Salzburg, Austria. gradually, the company developed management services, catering, shoreside hotel operations, tour operations and crewing services.

Maritime Leisure handles hotel operations onboard cruise ships, cruise ferries and private yachts, as well as international hotels and f&b outlets in various countries.

in addtion to hotel operation and crewing, the services of navigation, technical management and the management of concessionaires are provided.

1989 opening of the Maritime Hotel Academy GmbH at the Tourism School Salzburg Klessheim, Austria

1990 opening of the crewing agency Maritime Hotel Personnel Ltd, Nassau Bahamas

1991 long term contract with the Marine Hotel Association for the training of hotel employees for 22 major cruise lines

1991 opening of Maritime Hotel Management GmbH in Salzburg, Austria and formal launching of the Maritime Leisure Group

1991 inaguaration of the Maritime Hotel Conference in Salzburg, Austria, visited by all major cruise lines and a number of ferry lines

1993 opened first western 750-bed hotel ship in St Petersburg, Russa. the opening ceremony was attended by then Deputy Mayor and later Russian President Vladimir Putin

1994 opened Hotel Academy in St Petersburg, Russia

1996 signed first large scale catering contract trading world wide with German tour operator Transocean Tours for two 600 passenger cruise ships

1997 introduced new, innovative concept for dining onboard cruise ships, signed long term contract with largest British Tour Operator, Thomson Holidays. the concept was later adapted by several cruise lines and is today marketed by Norwegian Cruise Line as "Free Style Dining"

1999 first hotel management contracts with international hotel companies Radisson SAS, Austria Trend and Londonskaya

2001 signed contract with the Chinese Changjiang Shipping Corporation and Chinese Government for the opening of a Hotel Academy in Wuhan, China and the operation of river cruise vessels on the Yang Tze river.

2001 signed contract with Scottish government for the establishment of a new ferry line with three new built  vessels for the Northern Island trade, including commissioning the ships from the Finnish ship yard and delivering to Scotland

2002 gold award from Thomson Holidays for the best performing holiday product

2002 signed long term contract with the Scottish government for the operation of the three ferries

2002 purchased Scottish tour operator company

2002 signed contract with Smyril Line, a Faroese company, to set up the hotel operation for their new 1,800 passenger ferry trading between Iceland and Denmark

2003 Maritime Leisure designes Cruise Concept for Island Cruises

2003 Maritime Leisure Group certified in ISO 9001:2000

2006 re-structuring of Maritime Leisure Group following changes in the market

2007 establishment of Maritime Management GmbH Switzerland

2007 opening of the Academy of Maritime Hotel Management in co-operation with the Tourism Schools Bad Gleichenberg, Austria

2008 establishment of joint venture company Deliopolis LLC in Doha, Qatar with H. E. Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani
